What Are Dry Film Lubricants?
A dry lube spray or fluid is ideal for extreme temperatures that may cause liquid-based lubricants to boil or freeze. They also work well in high-load applications and reduce out-gassing in vacuum environments. A big benefit of dry film lubricants is that they don’t attract dust and dirt, ensuring cleanliness for medical equipment and food processing.
Choosing Dry Film Lubricant
- Graphite offers excellent conductivity and stability at high temperatures with fast drying.
- PTFE dry lube (aka Teflon) has a very low friction coefficient and is chemically inert for multi-purpose applications.
- Molybdenum Disulphide (MoS2 or moly lube) is excellent for high-pressure or load-bearing parts and has great corrosion resistance.
- Hexagonal Boron Nitride offers impressive durability, heat resistance, and stability with an inert formula.
- Tungsten Disulphide offers an ultra-thin coating for precision parts and has a large temperature range for extreme heat or cold.
