Dear Valued Customer,
Sil-Mid Limited is closely monitoring the development of the Coronavirus situation and will be following the guidance of both the UK Government and the World Health Organisation to minimise the risks to our employees and to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all staff and visitors.
The impact of Covid is still being felt through the supply chain and as a business we are experiencing the worst supply disruption in our history. There are issues with raw material availability, packaging and logistics.
We recognise that this has a big impact on our customers and our team is working constantly with all stakeholders to try and minimise cost and delay as much as possible. Sil-Mid Limited always maintains a close working relationship with all of our key suppliers and we are working to constantly evaluate the risks any disruptions pose to supply chain continuity.
Our team will always try and communicate clear and transparent information to customers where we have it, unfortunately we are not always given accurate or complete information and so can only flow down the information we have at the time.
As a leading stockist / distributor, Sil-Mid Limited is always assessing market demands and stocking policies to ensure we have sufficient product available to meet our customers' needs.
Customers should advise us of any products that they feel are business critical and make a decision on what, if any, stock is required to reduce risk of short supply.
As always, Sil-Mid Limited constantly strives to provide the highest possible service levels for its customers, and will continue to provide this throughout these difficult times.
Andy Nickson
Operations Director
Our team continues to monitor the situation on a daily basis, we are working closely with all of our key suppliers to constantly evaluate the risks and any disruptions posed to our supply chain continuity.
We will continue to provide the highest possible service levels for our customers throughout these difficult times.
As a leading stockist / distributor, we are always assessing market demands and stocking policies to ensure we have enough product available to meet our customers' needs.
We would urge customers who are concerned to contact us and advise us of any products that they feel are business critical and make a decision on what, if any, stock is required to reduce risk of short supply.
We are experiencing the worst period of supply disruption in our 40 year history with many suppliers having issues with meeting delivery and quality requirements. There are a number of products that are now limited in availability and we recommend that customers place orders to ensure that they are in the queue for products and not wait until free stock shows online.
So far our shipping to customers outside the UK has not been affected other than disruption and shortages within logistics availability. Our primary shipping partner, FedEx, has been working to support our requirements to ensure we can continue to ship product.
We continue to monitor the health of our workforce and take measures to protect our employees in accordance with government regulations. and a mandatory 10 day self isolation of any employees who have been subject to a positive Covid test. We are following the UK Government Guidance last updated on 16th August 2021.
Physical distancing measures have been implemented across the business to minimise risk to our staff and ensure the smooth running of our operation. All office staff have now been transitioned to a flexible working pattern involving days in the office and days at home, and are servicing our customers as normal.
We have identified areas which we consider critical to operate. Within these areas, we have developed operational continuity plans to ensure we have enough resources to keep running safely and ensure products are shipped to our customers.
These are unprecedented circumstances, and with the recent global surge in requirement for IPA, pricing for this particular category of product has inflated as a result of considerable pressure on supply source.
We are aware of pricing fluctuations across various product groups largely linked to oil price and the impact of Covid on manufacturing and logistics. As such there are likely to be ongoing fluctuations in pricing over the next 12 months.
Our system update pricing daily and we recommend customers secure pricing by creating Quotations on the Silmid.com website which are valid for 60 days and we will continue to support pricing on those quotes.
