Managing Supply Chain Continuity

Dear customer

With spring underway and COVID restrictions in the UK gradually starting to ease, there are signs that the aerospace industry is beginning to rebound from a year of unprecedented global uncertainty. A year of economic downturn, business closures, delayed shipments, order reductions, cancellations, and scaled back inventory levels means that there is still a lot to do to return to optimum workflow.

At Silmid we are working daily with our key suppliers to evaluate the risks and any disruptions posed to our supply chain continuity. In some cases, however, demand is outpacing supply and the recent blockage of the Suez Canal and Brexit have both compounded the issue.

As a leading stockist/distributor, we are always assessing market demands and our stocking policies to ensure we have enough products available to meet our customers' needs. However, given the extended lead times, we are experiencing from many of our key suppliers, we would urge customers who are concerned to contact us and advise us of any products that they feel are business-critical to reduce the risk of short supply.

We are closely monitoring any supplier price increases that may result from the various challenges to supply at this current time and we will update you as we learn more.

If you have any immediate concerns with current orders or upcoming demands, please contact your Account Manager.
