Corrosion Resistance

Corrosion is a primary cause of premature wire rope and umbilical failure.

BIOGEN WIRESHIELD is proven to excel in the most corrosive of atmospheres.Identical sections of wire ropes and armoured umbilicals were exposed to a salt spray fog for 1000 hours. The samples were galvanised, providing limited protection from corrosion through the formation of white zinc oxides and carbonates on their surfaces. If a lubricant can prevent this galvanic formation, it shows excellent anti-corrosion protection.

CLP Regulations

Due to new CLP Regulations, ROCOL is currently in the process of re labeling their hazardous and non hazardous products to comply with the the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (or GHS)

What is CLP?

CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and Council of 16 December 2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, amending and repealing Directives 67/548/EEC and 1999/45/EC, and amending Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.

The CLP Regulation adopts the United Nations’ Globally Harmonised System on the classification and labelling of chemicals (GHS) across all European Union countries, including the UK.

What is GHS?

GHS stands for the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. GHS defines and classifies the hazards of chemical products, and communicates health and safety information on labels and safety data sheets).

The goal is that the same set of rules for classifying hazards, and the same format and content for labels and safety data sheets (SDS) will be adopted and used around the world.
