Graphite is a form of carbon having a thin, flat, crystalline structure. It is found as a natural resource in several locations throughout the world. Graphite can also be manufactured from petroleum, coke or anthracite.
Uses of graphite are found throughout a broad spectrum of industries. It is used in the paper making industries as an opacity modifier; in high temperature seals and packings; in batteries; in sintered products; in conductive electrical coatings; in paints and explosives; as well as for its more traditional purpose of providing high temperature lubrication for a variety of industrial uses.
