What Are Calibrating Fluids?

Calibration fluids are simulated fuels that have physical properties designed specifically to replicate diesel fuel. Calibration fluids are specially designed and formulated to meet the tight specifications demanded when calibrating, flowing, and flushing fuel pumps and injectors.  They typically are a type of Stoddard solvent, a kerosene-like liquid used for everything from degreasing to paint thinning. The version used in fluid calibration contains stabilizing additives to prevent deposits and buildup.

In addition to aircraft fuel system calibration, these fluids can be used with almost any diesel system, including those found in commercial trucks, public buses, trains, high-performance automobiles, construction equipment, ships, and agricultural machinery. Many of the diesel calibration fluids we sell meet MIL-PRF-7024 Type II standards for performance and safety in ram-jet, gas turbine, and reciprocating aircraft engines.
