In June 2010, Boeing painted a 767 aircraft using Aerodur 3001 and Aerodur 3002 coatings. The gloss levels of the paint were measured at six and nine years after application, showing impressive durability. After nine years, the aircraft maintained an average gloss of over 91 gloss units (GU) at a 60° angle, demonstrating excellent long-term appearance and sustained surface quality.
Equipped with nearly a century of accumulated experience and technical know-how, AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings offers the first reliable base coat/clear coat systems for the ultimate decorative finish. The robust Aerobase and Aerodur paint systems require only one coat per colour, and one layer of clear coat to provide both protection and a long lasting distinction of image. This proven technology provides exceptional durability and saves time at every stage of the application process.
The entire surface of the aircraft is finished with a high-performance clear coat that provides ultimate weathering and chemical protection. This transparent layer ensures unmatched colour retention while producing a smooth, brilliant finish. The clear coat delivers long-lasting durability, prevents colour fading, and enhances the overall appearance with a glossy, “wet look” effect that maintains a factory-new shine for longer.
