Resin Formulators RF 5407 Epoxy Resin

This product can be cured with a wide range of hardeners to achieve varying properties and cure cycles. Regardless of the curing agent selected, the resulting material exhibits low shrinkage during cure, excellent thermal stability and conductivity, and strong, durable casting performance.

Because the filler in RF 5407 has a high specific gravity, it may settle over time. To maintain uniformity, the material should be mixed at least once per day during use to ensure even suspension of the filler. A high-shear mixing blade operating at or above 1000 RPM for a minimum of 15 minutes is recommended to adequately re-disperse any settled material. If mixing proves difficult, RF 5407 may be warmed to temperatures up to 150°F to reduce viscosity and improve handling. The product is natural in color and may vary from white to slightly yellow or light grey.

The filler used in RF 5407 is a micro-pulverized ceramic, which is naturally white and contributes to the resin’s typical whitish-gray appearance. During the grinding process, high temperatures can oxidize a small portion of the ceramic particles, causing them to appear black. As a result, small black specks may be visible in the finished material. These are not contaminants, but a normal and inherent characteristic of the filler.
