What is a Hydraulic Fluid? Any hydraulic system requires a hydraulic fluid to allow a transfer of power to take place. These have evolved over the years, with adaptations reducing the risk of flammability first posed in the 1940’s. A range of these hydraulic fluids have been adopted by both commercial and military aircraft, as a number conform to military specifications.
Aeroshell, Castrol and Nyco are just a small sample of suppliers in this area. These products are not just confined to the aviation industry, with many of our hydraulic fluids being compatible in other areas due to their advantageous properties including:
- Low freezing point
- Good anti-foam properties
- Good low and/or high temperature stability
