Lubricating Oils
What are Lubricating Oils? Lubricant oils are used to reduce the friction between surfaces and in doing so reduces the heat generated when parts/surfaces move. There are different types of lubricating oil ranging from base mineral oil, synthetic oil, solid lubrication, aqueous lubrication and bio-lubricants made from vegetable oil and other renewable sources. Reducing friction is a key object of lubricating oils but it also can prevent corrosion by forming a barrier from water and works as a conduit transporting contaminants to filters to be removed.
