Frequently asked questions

Over the last few years we have found that we often get asked the same questions by new users. Below are a number of the most commonly asked questions, please feel free to call us on 01675 432850 if we have missed any out or you have any other queries.

How do I create an account to buy online?

To create an online account you will need to Register. Click on the 'My Account' Tab and complete the new user form with all its mandatory fields. Once registered you will be able to order using your credit card.

If you are a company and require a Trade Account please complete a Credit Application Form.

What are my payment choices?

Members of the public can order online using any major credit card. Companies can opt to pay using a corporate purchasing card or a regular credit account. To order against an account the company will have to complete a Credit Account Application Form. Once complete the form should be faxed back to our Accounts team who will then advise whether the application has been successful.

Do I have to pay VAT?

All the prices shown in the online catalogue are exclusive of VAT. Value Added Tax will be added to your order at the current rate of 20%. If you are based outside of the UK you should contact our Export Sales Team.

Do you ship to customers outside of the United Kingdom?

Yes we do. We supply materials all over the world. Export customers can now place orders on Silmid.com. For help with registering and placing your first order please call 01675 432850. 

Has my order shipped yet?

When Logged in to the online catalogue click on the 'My Account' tab to review your list of recent orders. If the order is shown as 'complete' then it has shipped. Delivery normally takes 72 Hours from despatch.

How do I track the progress of my order?

When Logged in to the online catalogue click on the 'Orders' tab to review your list of recent orders. If your order shows as despatched but you have not recieved it you can take the FEDEX reference and search for a proof of delivery (POD) on the FEDEX website, www.fedex.com, or contact the Customer Services team on 01675 432 850 who will be happy to track your order.

What if there is an item missing from my order?

On receipt of a short shipment simply turn over the delivery note and fill in the form on the back. Fax the form to the number provided and a member of the Customer Service Team will deal with the problem. When will my backorder arrive?

We endeavour to supply your order within 28 working days of you placing it online. In some rare instances products take longer than 28 days. This is usually because they are made to order specifically for you or are supplied from outside the United Kingdom. If you have any concerns or worries about delivery contact Customer Services Team on 01675 432850 who will be able to advise you of lead times prior to you placing an order.

I need a copy of my invoice

Invoice copies can be requested from the 'My Account' Tab when you are logged in. If you require further assistance with invoice queries please call us on 01675 432850 and ask for the Accounts Team.
